Research Analyst

SW_small_narrowAs a research analyst at Market Connections, Sarah designs and implements telephone and online surveys with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and conducts in-depth interviews. She has experience with a variety of specialized types of research, including customer satisfaction, benchmarking, branding and image research, audience research, and program evaluation.

Before joining Market Connections, Sarah worked for PBS as a research associate and served the Brand Management, Member Services, Satellite, Engineering, and Operations departments, as well as the Board of Directors. In this role, she conducted numerous customer satisfaction studies and was the primary analyst of the local market audience data provided daily by Nielsen. She worked extensively with the IT department to design and test the PBS Overnights Database used to house program ratings and perform statistical analyses. She attended Focus Group Moderator training at the Burke Institute and oversaw branding and messaging focus groups conducted by outside vendors.

Sarah worked at the Newspaper Association of America, tracking labor and wage data. Prior to her work at PBS, she was the one-person research department for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. She conducted member surveys for publication on a monthly basis and instituted a detailed financial survey of facilities to track the health of the industry. Sarah also worked in the Virginia Tech Center for Survey Research during graduate school.

Before entering graduate school, Sarah worked for Macro International (now ICF Macro) scoring and analyzing pre- and post-tests, conducting impact assessment interviews, and analyzing large data sets for ad hoc reporting.

Sarah has also worked at the US Bureau of the Census doing quality assurance and at the Arlington County Office of Economic Development doing database development.

Sarah has a B.S. in Sociology with a minor in Family & Child Development and a M.S. in Sociology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech).

Sarah maintains an Expert level Professional Researcher Certification (PRC) from the Marketing Research Association (MRA).
