History of Veterans Day: Honoring Those Who Sacrifice for Our Great Nation - (Archived)

Today, Americans across the nation are commemorating Veterans Day with parades, wreath-laying ceremonies, monument dedications and other events. While this highly important holiday is a reminder to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom, we can also take this time to better understand the origins of this holiday.

We highly recommend a viewing this History Channel segment, which offers a history of Veterans Day.

How remarkable that we celebrate Veterans Day with our citizen-hearts full of pride and gratitude. Meanwhile our elected leaders are giving the country away, a country that has been bought with blood and tears. We continue to love our country and fight and die for it but those many who have recieved its blessings hold this country too cheaply. If only our elected leaders had the same feeling for our country that the citizens have.
