Federal IT executives are considerably less bullish than their industry counterparts about how the convergence of technology and services can help them, according to a new survey.
Only roughly one in five federal officials surveyed said they had plans in the next year and beyond to procure monitoring, infrastructure, software, communications and training on a consumption-based “as a service” model. One in four said they planned to procure platform as a service solutions.
The survey of 224 federal and 227 contractor respondents was conducted by research firm Market Connections in partnership with the Professional Services Council.
Federal respondents generally expressed concerns about security and cost risks associated with using a consumption-based model, said Lisa Dezzutti, president and CEO of Market Connections, at an Oct. 14 panel discussion.
