As a strategic business unit to AT&T Corporation, AT&T Government Solutions provides critical IT solutions that allow government to operate more efficiently and effectively. The division provides services that expand beyond legacy telecommunications to include e-government, contingency planning and emergency preparedness, as well as modeling and simulation technologies.
With more than 4,000 scientists, engineers and technologists on its staff, AT&T Government Solutions is able to help government agencies advance their missions through Network Services, Professional Services, and Information Technology – while leveraging resources from AT&T Labs and its strategic partnerships.
The division is also playing a key role in advancing the military’s use of mobile solutions through its support of the U.S. Marine’s Trusted Handheld Platform contract. Under the agreement, AT&T Government Solutions is developing 450 prototype mobile devices for testing, certification, and implementation by the Department of Defense (DoD) and other stakeholders.
It is also advancing cloud services for the federal government by receiving an Authority to Operate (ATO) for its AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). This ATO allows AT&T Government to offer cloud storage services to federal agencies through the GSA Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Blanket Purchase Agreement.
The GSA also recently announced that it has implemented a new purchase agreement for wireless services and device consolidation with AT&T Government Solutions, which could ultimately save the government hundreds of millions of dollars.
AT&T Government Solutions is also bolstering its senior management team by bringing on industry veteran Kay Kapoor who is the new president. Kapoor brings 25 years of experience in the government contracting and technology space to AT&T Government. She most recently served as chief executive of Accenture Federal Services, as well as held executive positions at ITT Corporation and Lockheed Martin.
With a focus on providing the right IT, cloud and mobility solutions that allow the government to save money, we are proud to announce that AT&T Government is officially this week’s Winning Contractor.” Stay tuned for more posts about contractors proving to be nimble in the face of challenging times in our new “Winning Contractor” series.
