Winning Contractor: Engility Wins $4 Billion Defense Threat Reduction Agency Contract - (Archived)

Earlier this year, FedPulse spoke with Tony Smeraglinolo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Engility, where he discussed the company’s unique approach to retaining key talent and provided cost-effective solutions to the marketplace.

Smeraglinolo also discussed the progress that had been made at Engility since the spin off from L-3 Communications in 2012, which involved streamlining seven companies and 10 business units, harmonizing benefit plans and developing one unique culture.

Clearly, all of these efforts are paying off for Engility.  Last week, the company announced that it had been selected as a prime contractor on a $4 billion multi-award contract awarded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Through the agreement, Engility will provide an array of technology and engineering services to support research and development for combating weapons of mass destruction.

“This win expands on work we are currently doing for DTRA under the Weapons of Mass Destruction Defeat Technology indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract and we are pleased and honored by this new opportunity,” said Smeraglinolo in a recent press release. “We have a long history supporting this customer on this important mission and winning a position on this new multi-award contract reflects the superior past performance and reliability our people have provided.”

Under the IDIQ, Engility will provide systems engineering, systems survivability, weapons of mass destruction medical counter measures and physical counter measures.   The contract will also cover technical nuclear forensics, nuclear detection, standoff detection, treaty and verification technologies and nuclear sensor platform.

For streamlining its business and continually focusing on meeting government mission goals in a cost-effective way, which led to this major contract win, we are pleased to announce that Engility is this week’s “Winning Contractor.”
